Commercial Driver's License Driver

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and responsible Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Driver to join our transportation team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating various types of vehicles, including buses and transit vehicles, to transport students efficiently and securely. Your primary focus will be ensuring passenger safety, adhering to traffic laws and transportation safety regulations, and providing excellent customer service. Duties

• Safely operate buses, transit vehicles, or specialized transportation vehicles in accordance with state and local commercial driving laws.
• Transport passengers to designated locations while ensuring their safety and comfort.
• Follow all traffic laws, vehicle codes, and emergency response procedures for transportation to ensure safe operations at all times.
• Conduct pre-trip inspections of vehicles, including checking fluid levels, brakes, lights, and safety equipment before each trip.
• Respond quickly to traffic changes or unexpected road conditions by adjusting routes or schedules while maintaining punctuality.
• Communicate effectively with passengers, team members, and dispatchers using clear language and professional behavior management skills.
• Maintain accurate logs of trips, passenger counts, and vehicle inspections in compliance with transportation safety regulations.
• Handle minor first aid or CPR emergencies when necessary, demonstrating preparedness for emergency response procedures.
• Skills
• Proven experience in bus driving, school bus driving, or transit bus operation with a strong understanding of passenger safety protocols.
• Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, state and local commercial driving laws, and transportation safety regulations.
• Excellent communication skills to interact positively with passengers of all ages and backgrounds.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting passengers or handling luggage or mobility aids.
• Familiarity with emergency stop procedures and emergency response procedures for transportation incidents.
• Strong behavior management skills to ensure a respectful environment onboard the vehicle.
• Experience working with children or seniors is highly desirable for passenger care roles.
• Quick response capabilities to adapt swiftly to traffic changes or unforeseen circumstances on the road.
• Valid CDL license with appropriate endorsements for passenger transport; additional certifications such as first aid or CPR are preferred but not required.
• Writing skills necessary for completing trip logs, incident reports, and other documentation accurately.
