Job description

We are seeking an independently licensed mental health provider who is passionate about helping children and families heal from traumatic experiences.

Job Summary

The Mental Health Clinician position is focused on providing direct clinical services to children and families referred to RRCAC. The clinician will provide appropriate specialized trauma-focused mental health assessment, treatment, and crisis intervention services for child victims of abuse and their family members. The clinician will also provide assessment and treatment to children and adolescents with problematic and/or illegal sexual behavior. As part of the multi-disciplinary team, the clinician will work in partnership with Child Advocacy Center staff, law enforcement, Child Protective Services investigators, the County Attorney’s office, medical personnel and other key partners to mobilize and strengthen the collaborative approach to the prevention, intervention, investigation, treatment and prosecution of child abuse. Full-time is preferred, but part-time and contract options may be considered. In office is preferred, but remote may be considered.

Responsibilities and Duties

Provide Mental Health Services

· Conduct brief evidence-based, trauma specific mental health assessments to determine appropriate treatment referral

· Coordinate with outside agencies when referring out to community providers

· Utilize evaluation & assessment tools to identify areas to be addressed during therapy and monitor progress in treatment

· Develop an individualized treatment plan for each client using a trauma-specific, evidence-based interventions such as Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Child and Family Traumatic Stress Intervention (CFTSI), Structured Psychotherapy for Adolescents Responding to Chronic Stress (SPARCS), Problematic Sexual Behavior Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (PSB-CBT), and others as trainings become available

· Conduct therapy sessions (individual, group, family, etc.) on an outpatient basis, including telehealth services.

· Timely documentation of services

· Provide updates regarding each client’s therapeutic progress for the monthly Multi-disciplinary Team (MDT) meeting

· Make recommendations regarding needed follow-up for the child and/or the family

· Seek consultation with national experts as needed

· Demonstrate fidelity to evidence-based treatment models

· Keep abreast of new research and developments regarding the mental health assessment and treatment of child abuse victims

· Know and adhere to all ethical guidelines and rules as set forth by the appropriate state licensing board

Supervision

· Assist the Director of Mental Health in supervising provisionally licensed staff and interns

Professional Development and Training

· Completion of 40 hours of training and consultation to deliver evidence-based treatment to children who have experienced trauma from abuse

· Participate in trauma focused mental health trainings, peer reviews/forums, and other related trainings as directed by the Director of Mental Health Services and/or Executive Director for a minimum of 12 hours a year

· Attend other meetings and in-services, professional training, and conferences as self-directed or requested by Director of Mental Health Services and/or Executive Director

Provide training, supervision, and consultation to the RRCAC staff, community, and partners

· Provide trainings to community and partners as directed by the Director of Mental Health Services

· Provide consultation to Multidisciplinary Team members and community providers

Provide Testimony

· Prepare for court and testify when subpoenaed

Other Duties

· Attend multidisciplinary, team, and staff meetings

· Participate in collaboration efforts with community agencies

· Maintain case files, documentation, and client data

· Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director, Director of Mental Health Services, and Director of Operations

· While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close and distance vision.

· Employee must have access to a vehicle; possess a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.

· Employee must submit to a thorough criminal and child abuse background check at least every two years.

· Occasional evening hours may be required based upon therapy groups and client needs.

· Occasional in-state and out-of-state travel is required.

Qualifications and Education

Required

· Masters Degree and independent license in social work or counseling – LCSW or LPCC

· A valid license to provide therapy in ND and MN or license eligible

· Must possess strong oral and written communication skills

· Understand and abide by the confidentiality requirements and procedures related to working in an environment such as the Children’s Advocacy Center

· Must be proficient in office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint

· A valid Driver’s License

Preferred

· Experience working with children and families

· Trained in and experience providing trauma-specific and evidence-based treatment interventions, such as Trauma Focused – Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)

· Experience screening and assessing child victims of trauma and their family members to appropriately identify recommended therapeutic interventions

· Have demonstrated commitment to on-going cross disciplinary education and openness to supervisory feedback

· Experience in working with diverse professionals from child protection, law enforcement, court systems and related community services.

· Full-time, competitive compensation dependent on experience and degree.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
