Location: San Jose, CA (100% Onsite)
Pay: Up to $60/hr W2 DOE
Duration: 3–6 Month Contract with strong potential for extension and/or conversion
Red Oak Technologies is partnering with a leading global technology company to hire an experienced IT Category Manager to support strategic sourcing and procurement across enterprise IT. This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with Engineering, IT, and business leaders while driving sourcing strategies that create measurable business value.
Responsibilities
- Lead strategic sourcing and procurement for IT hardware, software, SaaS, cloud services, and technology-related spend.
- Develop and execute category strategies that optimize cost, quality, supplier performance, and risk.
- Partner with Engineering, IT, and cross-functional stakeholders to define business requirements and sourcing strategies.
- Lead supplier evaluations, competitive sourcing events (RFP/RFQ), and contract negotiations.
- Build and manage strategic supplier relationships while driving continuous performance improvements.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings, cost avoidance, and operational efficiencies.
- Monitor market trends, supplier capabilities, and pricing benchmarks.
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies and best practices.
- Support Procure-to-Pay activities, including purchase requests, purchase orders, and delivery tracking.
Required
Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, or a related field
5 years of strategic sourcing, procurement, or category management experience
Experience sourcing IT hardware, software, SaaS, cloud services, and technology vendors
Strong contract negotiation and supplier relationship management experience
Experience partnering with Engineering, IT, or technical business stakeholders
Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Experience using procurement systems and sourcing tools
Preferred
Experience sourcing technology products and services in a high-tech environment
Familiarity with software licensing models and enterprise supplier agreements
Proven track record of delivering measurable cost savings and supplier performance improvements
Experience supporting R&D or engineering organizations
