Position Overview
The Director of Logistics supports the Senior Director of Logistics in overseeing the efficient movement, storage, and delivery of goods and materials. This role is responsible for coordinating logistics operations, optimizing supply chain processes, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. The Director will collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage staff, and implement strategies to enhance operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
· Operational Support: Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing logistics operations, including transportation, warehousing, and inventory management.
· Process Optimization: Analyze supply chain data to identify inefficiencies and implement improvements to reduce costs and enhance delivery times.
· Team Management: Supervise logistics staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations, to ensure a high-performing team.
· Compliance: Ensure all logistics activities adhere to federal, state, and international regulations, including safety and environmental standards.
· Vendor Coordination: Negotiate contracts and maintain relationships with suppliers, carriers, and third-party logistics providers.
· Budget Oversight: Assist in developing and managing the logistics budget, monitoring expenses, and reporting on financial performance.
· Technology Integration: Oversee the use of logistics software and systems (e.g., WMS, TMS) to streamline operations and improve tracking.
· Reporting: Prepare and present reports on logistics performance, including KPIs such as delivery times, costs, and inventory levels.
· Crisis Management: Develop contingency plans and respond to disruptions in the supply chain, such as delays or emergencies.
· Strategic Planning: Contribute to long-term logistics strategies, aligning with organizational goals and market demands.

· Work alongside loading personnel, shipping personnel, warehouse personnel
Qualifications
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
· Experience: 5 years of experience in logistics or supply chain management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
· Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Proficiency in logistics software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar).
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements (e.g., DOT, OSHA).
- Effective communication and negotiation skills.
· Certifications: APICS CSCP, CLTD, or similar certifications are a plus.
· Physical Requirements: Ability to occasionally visit warehouses or distribution centers, which may involve standing, walking, or lifting up to 25 pounds.
