POSITION PURPOSE

Responsible for servicing all types of insurance/accident claims along with payment security protection claims. Participates in the research and processing of all weekly and monthly insurance billings. Verifies collateral secured loans to ensure the proper loan documents are uploaded for GAP, payment security protection along with collateral being listed correctly. Position requires helping front office staff with questions to ensure the members are taken care of with any questions or concerns on coverages for PSP, GAP, or Collateral Coverage. A person in this position needs to be able to handle difficult conversations. 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Data Entry and Posting - Post insurance claim checks, GAP coverage, CPI premiums, TruStage, unemployment, disability, and life payments to member accounts, HMI, CPI charges along with refunds. Plus, enter appropriate data when needed.
  • Billing – Process all reports and billings PSP, CPI and GAP. Verify account numbers, adjust for premium costs, and record adjustments.
  • Member Services - Help members over the telephone with problems, questions, and filing claims. Verify with insurance agent or State National as needed.
  • Processing- Process all consumer loans daily. Checking for the correct PSP Option and fees, GAP, collateral description, and joint borrower.
  • Other-Work with Manager and Collections as needed for any Insurance Deficiency balances.

 

CRITICAL JOB DUTIES 

  • Process GAP insurance; applications, cancellations, request refunds, and claims.
  • Update loan files with most current information through On-Base/Unity.
  • GL balancing.
  • Assist members and RCCU employees.
  • Sort all incoming insurance, Home Mortgage and RELN Insurance mail and forward insurance policies/cancellations to State National.
  • Work State National Reports Weekly along with contracting members.
  • Request loan payment adjustments as needed due to CPI premiums and return premiums; do loan modifications as applicable.
  • Work accident reports, process insurance checks and follow up where and when needed to complete a claim process.
  • File and process life claims, only if loan related. 
  • File disability, unemployment claims.
  • Process the weekly CPI billing, weekly CPI Refund billing.
  • Process 100% of the previous days loan applications, checking for correct PSP Options, GAP, and the collateral description, joint borrower.
  • Process life and disability insurance programs and billings.
  • Perform this position with a high degree of accuracy and organization.
  • Process insurance checks as received daily.
  • Check & follow up on all missing loans and send appropriate corrections.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager and lead employees. 
  • Help front office staff with situations as they come up.

  • Must be bondable.
  • Demonstrate mathematics skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
  • Word processing and spreadsheet skills.
  • Ability to meet daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines, and cope with interruptions.
  • Self-motivated, and ability to work independently or closely with co-workers.
  • Ability to deal positively, though firmly, with irate members.
  • Work must be accurate 95% of the time.
  • Able to communicate well verbally and written.
  • Able to follow instructions.
  • Must have strong multi-tasking skills.
  • Must be reliable. 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred one year of insurance experience.
  • Keyboard proficiency; typing speed 30 WPM.
  • Ability to hear by telephone and in person.
  • Ability to read English by sight; and both speak and write English.

 

JOB RELATIONSHIPS

  • This position reports directly to the Insurance and Title Manager and may have daily contact with employees, management team, members, Board of Directors, and outside organizations.

 

ESSENTIAL MENTAL, PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

  • General - The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. The employee frequently is required to use hands or finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Physical - Office mobility required. Approximately 20% standing, 70% sitting, 10% walking, as need demands. Possess sufficient manual dexterity to skillfully operate standard office equipment including a computer or typewriter keyboard, 10-key calculator, copier, and telephone. Other demands include talking, handling & reaching, seeing (corrected vision) and hearing in normal range. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. A telephone device to enhance hearing will be provided if needed. Occasional light lifting. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Periodic inter-branch or interdepartmental access may be required, including for distribution and access to various materials, equipment, meetings, etc. Storage and retrieval of materials, maximum reach required is 84 inches.
  • Mental - Mental effort required involving considerable organization, planning and analytical efforts with superior communication. General demands include alertness, memory, observation, empathy, ingenuity, learning ability, problem solving; patience; initiative; objectivity, creativity, speaking ability, reading, and writing ability, judgment, persuasiveness, concentration, flexibility, precision, and auditory discrimination.
  • Environmental - Minimal discomfort from smell, heat, dust and air conditioning. The noise level is usually moderate, including external road noise. Transport within remote branch and/or main office/facility may be single or multilevel (as required) including a variety of stairways, elevators, etc. Exposure to computers and other electronic equipment. The lunch/break area exposed to microwave; and is in the kitchen area in the Winters Building. The facility is 100% free of tobacco smoke.
  • Equipment - Essential equipment used includes, but may not be limited to telephone, personal scanner and other on-line computer terminal(s), calculator, and office security systems. Non-essential equipment generally includes a paper shredder, typewriter, photocopy machine, facsimile (fax) machine, etc.
