Position Summary
We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Yard Jockey/Spotter to manage trailer movements at our Darlington site. This full-time, day-shift role is critical to maintaining an organized yard and supporting timely deliveries. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of Class A driving experience and a strong commitment to safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate yard trucks to move trailers to and from loading docks, ensuring proper positioning for loading and unloading. Navigate tight spaces with precision using terminal tractors or yard trucks.
• Assist truck drivers in aligning trailers with loading docks to ensure efficient and secure cargo transfer.
• Conduct regular inspections of trailers and yard equipment. Identify and report mechanical issues to maintain safety and operational readiness.
• Maintain accurate logs of trailer movements, yard inventory, and trailer locations to support efficient yard operations and meet freight deadlines.
• Strictly adhere to all safety regulations and company procedures, especially when maneuvering heavy equipment in confined areas.
• Coordinate with warehouse staff, truck drivers, and management to ensure smooth and timely trailer movements and yard operations.
• Keep the yard clean and free of hazards by removing debris and addressing safety concerns promptly.
• Assist with loading and unloading trailers as needed to maintain workflow and support the logistics team.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
• Minimum of 3 years of verifiable Class A driving or yard spotter experience
• Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and background check
• Current Medical Examiner’s Certificate and active registration in the FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse
• Proficiency with Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs)
• Basic mechanical aptitude to identify and report minor vehicle issues
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent time management and organizational abilities
• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening and background check

Compensation and Benefits

• Hourly Rate: $21.00/hr

• Hours: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
