We are seeking a Quality Assurance Inspector III to support inspection activities for aerospace hardware, parts, and assemblies. This role will be responsible for performing receiving inspections, in-process inspections, final inspections, and quality documentation review in a high-reliability manufacturing environment.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience reading drawings and prints, performing dimensional inspections, and working closely with quality engineering, operations, and manufacturing teams to ensure hardware meets drawing, specification, and program requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform receiving inspections of purchased parts, components, and subassemblies.
- Verify supplier compliance with purchase order requirements, specifications, and drawing requirements.
- Conduct dimensional inspections using handheld mechanical inspection tools and measuring instruments.
- Perform in-process inspections of assembled hardware according to drawing and documentation requirements.
- Verify the accuracy of entries on data sheets, work orders, adhesive mixes, and other production records.
- Conduct final inspections of assembled hardware and report quality findings to the program Quality Engineer.
- Support Quality Engineering and Operations with investigations related to non-conformances.
- Accurately document inspection results in paper-based and electronic systems.
- Review work orders prior to closure to confirm:
- Part and assembly counts are accurate
- Parts and assemblies are in proper condition
- All required operations are complete
- Kit lists are accurate
- Parts are correctly labeled
- Required quality documentation is complete
- Assist the Quality Engineer with collecting data for End Item Data Packages as needed.
- Perform source inspections at sub-tier suppliers when required.
Required Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 3 years of experience in quality inspection.
- Experience in a high-reliability, small-batch, high-variety manufacturing environment preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, prints, and specifications.
- Understanding of mechanical inspection device setup and use.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating within a cross-functional team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
Desired Skills
- Knowledge of aerospace systems, terminology, and manufacturing methodology.
- Familiarity with AS9100 and/or ISO 9001 quality requirements.
- Experience documenting product quality through paper and electronic systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and web-based quality or production systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in an environment with competing priorities.
- Knowledge of calibration systems and internal controls related to calibration.
- Prior experience supporting aerospace, defense, or high-reliability hardware inspection.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform inspections requiring close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
- Ability to occasionally work in confined spaces.
- Ability to occasionally work at heights of 30 feet or more using a scissor lift.
