We are seeking a hands-on Instrumentation Technician / Panel Upgrade Technician to support panel upgrade and instrumentation installation projects for local client sites across the Twin Cities area. This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in panel shop work, field instrumentation, and customer site support.
This is a full-time hourly role with the majority of time spent at local customer sites, along with occasional work in the panel shop. The right candidate will be adaptable, dependable, and comfortable working in both shop and field environments while supporting industrial upgrade projects for high-profile customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform panel upgrades and support the installation of new instrumentation
- Work both in the panel shop and at local client sites throughout the Twin Cities area
- Travel locally to customer facilities to complete upgrade and installation work
- Assist with field-based instrumentation and panel-related activities in active customer environments
- Support project execution while maintaining quality, safety, and professionalism on site
- Collaborate with internal teams to respond to shifting project demands and workload priorities
- Maintain flexibility in scheduling and assignments based on project needs and planning timelines
Work Environment
- Approximately 80–90% of the role will be spent at local customer sites
- Approximately 10–20% of the role will be spent working in the panel shop
- Most projects are currently local to the Twin Cities metro area
- Future opportunities for broader travel or training support may develop depending on business needs
Qualifications
- Experience working in a panel shop environment
- Background in instrumentation, field engineering, or a related technical role
- Experience performing panel upgrades and field-based installation work
- Prior experience working directly at customer sites
- Strong adaptability and willingness to support changing project demands
- Ability to work independently and professionally in both shop and field settings
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree in a related technical field preferred
- Candidates without a degree may still be considered if they bring 5–6 years of solid panel shop experience along with relevant field experience
- Prior experience in instrumentation engineering or instrumentation field engineering is highly preferred
Schedule and Hours
- Full-time hourly position
- Typical schedule is centered around 8-hour workdays
- Some projects may allow for 10-hour days, creating occasional overtime opportunities
- Workloads may vary depending on project surges and client demands
