Overview

R12 Talent is recruiting for a Field Service Technician to join a specialist engineering and manufacturing operation based in Indianapolis.

This is a hands-on technical position combining work at the Indianapolis facility with extensive travel to customer sites. You will support the installation, servicing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of equipment, working directly with customers to ensure machinery operates safely and effectively.

Once fully trained, travel can account for up to 80% of the position, making this a great opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on technical work, variety, travel, and the opportunity to earn additional income through overtime and travel assignments.

Schedule & Travel

When working from the Indianapolis facility:

• 8-hour working day
• Typical start time between 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM
• Primarily daytime hours

When working at customer sites:

• Typically 10-hour working days
• Hours vary depending on the project and customer requirements
• Work may take place on 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift
• Weekend work may occasionally be required
• Travel assignments average approximately one week
• Some larger projects may require travel for up to six weeks
• Up to 80% travel once training is complete
• Per diem provided while traveling

Pay & Overtime

• $35.00 – $40.00 per hour, depending on experience
• 1.5x overtime pay
• Double-time pay on Sundays
• Per diem for qualifying travel assignments
• Significant earning potential for technicians comfortable with travel and overtime

Key Responsibilities

• Travel to customer facilities to provide technical field service support
• Assist with equipment installation, startup, commissioning, and servicing
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical equipment issues
• Complete repairs, adjustments, and preventative maintenance
• Support customers during equipment breakdowns and technical issues
• Identify the cause of equipment problems and implement practical solutions
• Work from technical drawings, schematics, manuals, and service documentation
• Test equipment following repairs or installation to ensure correct operation
• Communicate effectively with customers regarding equipment condition and completed work
• Complete service reports and accurately document work performed
• Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and service teams
• Follow customer and site-specific safety procedures
• Represent the client professionally while working at customer locations

What We're Looking For

We are interested in technicians with a strong mechanical and/or electrical background who enjoy troubleshooting and working directly with industrial equipment.

The ideal candidate will be:

• Mechanically and technically minded
• Comfortable troubleshooting machinery and equipment
• Willing and able to travel extensively
• Comfortable working independently at customer locations
• Flexible regarding shifts and working hours while traveling
• Able to communicate professionally with customers
• Dependable and able to manage longer field assignments
• Comfortable working overtime and occasional weekends
• Interested in developing their technical skills through hands-on field experience

Previous experience in Field Service, Industrial Maintenance, Machine Building, Equipment Installation, Commissioning, Mechanical Maintenance, Electrical Maintenance, or Manufacturing Equipment would be highly beneficial.

401(k)

Employees become eligible to participate in the 401(k) retirement plan after three months of employment.

Paid Vacation

Full-time employees receive 10 days of paid vacation per year, prorated where applicable.

Following the first full year of employment, vacation entitlement increases by one additional day per year, up to a maximum of 20 days.
