What are the responsibilities and job description for the LPN/RN – Detox Facility position at Recreate Behavioral Health Network?
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team of healthcare professionals in a licensed New Jersey detox facility. The nurse will be responsible for delivering safe, high-quality medical care under the supervision of the Director of Nursing and in coordination with the Medical Director.
The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience in a detoxification treatment setting, as required by New Jersey state regulations, and demonstrate clinical proficiency in managing substance withdrawal protocols, medical screenings, and ongoing patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized nursing care and conduct medical and psychiatric screenings for all clients.
- Monitor patients for signs and symptoms of intoxication or withdrawal and report any changes promptly.
- Administer medications as prescribed and document all interventions and observations in accordance with NJ regulations and facility policies.
- Utilize assessment tools such as COWS and CIWA to guide detoxification protocols.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records in the KIPU EMR system.
- Provide medication education to patients as needed.
- Supervise and give direction to Behavioral Health Technicians during assigned shifts.
- Participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning and shift hand-offs.
- Adhere to all clinical protocols, confidentiality guidelines, and state licensure requirements.
- Valid New Jersey LPN or RN license in good standing.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in a detoxification treatment facility (required).
- Strong understanding of withdrawal symptoms and medication-assisted treatment.
- Experience with KIPU EMR and use of clinical assessment tools such as COWS and CIWA.
- Effective communication and time management skills.
- Team-oriented, with strong clinical judgment and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Associate Degree in Nursing or Practical Nursing (required)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (preferred but not required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required)
- Additional detox-related training or certification is a plus
- 12-Hour Shifts
- Weekend availability required
