What are the responsibilities and job description for the Licensed Substance Abuse Counselor position at Recovery Center of Ohio, LLC?
Recovery Center of Ohio’s mission is to help men and women reclaim their lives from the disease of addiction to alcohol and other drugs and to reduce the incidence of addiction in future generations. We are an agency committed to quality gender-responsive, trauma-informed care to clients with substance use and co-occurring disorders. The Addiction Clinician provides critical alcohol and other drug counseling, assessment and referral services to clients in a manner that reflects the agency's mission.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct screening interviews to determine the need for a drug and alcohol assessment and for emergent care services in the specific areas of detoxification, psychiatric care, and intensive outpatient treatment; make referrals to appropriate health and human services agencies as needed based on the outcome of the screening interview
- Conduct confidential, quality assessments, utilizing ASAM Placement criteria and the Addiction Severity Index to determine the appropriate level of care;
- Use a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach to work collaboratively with clients and internal and external team members to help support clients in their treatment and recovery
- Provide clinical consultation to referral resources, Mentors, family members, and others to help support clients in their recovery
- Work closely with clients to engage them in the decision-making process and help them understand the benefits of assessment and accessing the appropriate level of care as indicated
- Collect and review referral information upon assignment of clients from the referral source and consult with others as needed to support coordination of services and scheduling of client interviews
- Coordinate with the Intake Coordinator as needed to contact clients to confirm appointment dates, times, and assessment locations
- Collect information from collateral resources to aid in determining diagnosis and need for treatment
- Conduct IOP groups Monday through Friday as directed
- Remain in compliance with internal and external policies, procedures, regulations, and standards, including all of the agencies policies and procedures and Quality Assurance Plan, and State Licensing standards
- Participate in all assigned meetings, staff development, and training as required
Requirements
- Active CDCA/ LCDCII/ LCDCIII/ LICDC licensure from the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board
- Strong interpersonal and engagement skills
- Organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong computer skills required; experience with documentation in EHR
- Ability to support the agency’s mission and philosophy, and demonstrate sensitivity to cultural diversity and workplace harmony
- Value for and ability to deliver excellent customer service
- SUD Counselor will be expected to be in scheduled weekend rotation to provide remote group services on weekends for an additional stipend. The coverage would be 3 hours on Saturday and 3 hours on Sunday, totaling 6 hours in a weekend. (Weekend coverage will be expected no more than once monthly)
Preferred
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or Counseling
- LPC, LSW, LMFT licensure by the Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapy Board or Combination of comparable skills, experience, and education
- Addictions counseling and /or mental health counseling: one year
