Position Summary
The Group Facilitator is responsible for leading structured, clinically appropriate group therapy sessions for adults receiving care in a primary mental health Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) program. This role focuses on facilitating evidence-based groups that support stabilization, skill-building, symptom management, and overall treatment engagement. The ideal candidate has direct experience running groups in a primary mental health setting and is comfortable working within a fast-paced, collaborative outpatient environment.
Schedule: 20 hours a week, 9:00am - 2:00pm
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate scheduled group therapy sessions for PHP and IOP patients in alignment with program curriculum and treatment models
- Deliver psychoeducational, process-oriented, and skills-based groups (e.g., CBT, DBT-informed skills, coping skills, emotional regulation, relapse prevention for mental health symptoms)
- Maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic group environment that encourages engagement and participation
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary treatment team, including therapists, case managers, nursing, and psychiatry
- Document group notes, attendance, and clinical observations accurately and in a timely manner per program and regulatory standards
- Adhere to all clinical, ethical, and confidentiality guidelines, including state and accreditation requirements
- Support treatment planning through clinical feedback and participation in team meetings as needed
- Maintain professionalism, boundaries, and cultural sensitivity when working with a diverse patient population
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree (MS or MA) in a related field such as Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health Counseling, or a closely related discipline
- Minimum of 1 year of experience facilitating groups in a primary mental health treatment setting
- Strong group facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of common mental health diagnoses and therapeutic group modalities
- Ability to work effectively in a structured PHP/IOP environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Active Massachusetts licensure or certification, including:
- LMHC
- LICSW
- LCSW
- LADC I or LADC II
- Prior experience in PHP and/or IOP levels of care
- Familiarity with evidence-based group curricula and documentation standards
Work Environment & Expectations
- Outpatient clinical setting with structured daytime and/or evening schedules
- Requires consistent attendance, punctuality, and strong time-management skills
- May involve coordination across multiple levels of care within the program
