Black Youth Suicide Prevention Coordinator

This position is dedicated to elevating and empowering youth voices with the goal of developing a Statewide Black Youth Suicide Prevention Plan. The Black Youth Suicide Prevention Coalition (BYSPC) Coordinator will work closely with various partner organizations within and outside of the coalition such as Oregon Health Authority, Multnomah County, AdultingIRL and various organizations to support the facilitation and development of the BYSPC Youth Advisory Council goals and development. The BYSPC Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the support of youth and managing projects that youth are looking to develop. They will collaborate and update the Youth Advisory Coordinator on progress and development with the BYSPC organization.

Primary Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Attend BYSPC planning meetings to plan and collaborate with partnering organizations to develop a statewide strategic plan.
  • Manage communication for BYSPC.
  • Schedule meetings to organize initiatives and youth support.
  • Provide regular youth support via check in meetings bi-weekly.
  • Support the facilitation of BYSPC adult and youth led and meetings.
  • Attend mental health conferences and community meetings to update learning communities on BYSPC initiative developments as directed by the BYSPC team.
  • Support the recruitment and onboarding of REAP students and youth onto BYSPC.
  • Support BYSPC events via planning and attendance.
  • Support reporting of challenges and accomplishments of BYSPC initiatives.
  • Provide regular updates concerning BYSPC initiatives and progress to REAP staff.
  • Consult partner organizations in strategies to elevate youth voice.
  • Complete required reporting by OHA and REAP in a timely manner.
Qualifications:

 

  • Preferred at least 4 years of experience of facilitating youth led programming.
  • Must have experience managing multiple projects with hard deadlines.
  • Must have strong communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Must have a flexible schedule to attend planning and event meetings.
  • Must have QMHA or equivalent experience working within the mental health field.
  • Strong communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Self-directed and takes initiative.
  • The ability to learn quickly, pivot, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational abilities for project planning and implementation.
  • Excellent time management and ability to effectively meet deadlines.
  • Clear written and verbal communication.
  • Adept with computer technology and software (Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Zoom); and the ability to learn and master new software systems.

Salary : $45,386 - $50,617
