The Mental Health School-Based Therapist provides culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and evidence-based behavioral health services to students within a school-based health setting. The therapist delivers assessment, treatment, crisis intervention, and consultation services, supporting students’ mental health, social-emotional growth, and academic success.
This role is well-suited for recent graduates or clinicians in the early years of practice who are interested in developing their skills in a collaborative, community-focused environment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide individual, group, and family therapy to children and adolescents in a school-based setting.
- Conduct mental health assessments, develop treatment plans, and implement evidence-based interventions.
- Deliver services in English and [Spanish/other language] to meet the needs of bilingual/bicultural students and families.
- Provide crisis intervention, risk assessments, and safety planning for students experiencing acute mental health concerns.
- Collaborate with teachers, school counselors, administrators, and families to support student well-being and classroom functioning.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with Medicaid, agency, and state guidelines.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case consultations, and school support teams.
- Provide referrals and coordinate care with external providers and community resources as needed.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and training in trauma-informed practices, equity, and culturally responsive care.
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related behavioral health field required.
- Current licensure in the State of Oregon as LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or eligible for licensure.
- Experience providing therapy to children, adolescents, and families, preferably in a school or community-based setting.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care, child development, and culturally responsive practices.
- Strong skills in collaboration, communication, and working within multidisciplinary teams.
Nice to Have - Not Required
- Familiarity with Medicaid billing and documentation standards.
- Ability to provide clinical services bilingually.
- Experience providing therapy in a school or community-based setting.
Work Environment
- Based within a school; may involve multiple school locations.
- Schedule aligned with school hours, with occasional evening meetings or family sessions.
- Hybrid/telehealth services may be provided depending on program guidelines and program needs.

Salary : $60,250 - $68,795
