Position Overview
Realty of America is a rapidly growing national real estate brokerage focused on empowering agents through technology, innovation, and operational excellence. As the company continues expanding across multiple markets, we are building a strong finance organization to support scalable growth. We are seeking a Controller / Head of Accounting to lead accounting operations and ensure the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting infrastructure. This role will partner closely with the CFO to build scalable accounting processes, oversee financial reporting, and maintain strong internal controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the company’s general ledger and chart of accounts
- Review and approve journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries
- Ensure accounting treatment aligns with GAAP standards
- Lead the monthly and annual close process
- Establish and manage a structured close calendar
- Oversee bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Investigate discrepancies and ensure timely resolution
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements
- Develop accounting policies, procedures, and SOPs
- Support system improvements and accounting process automation
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA required
- 7–12 years of accounting experience
- Public accounting or corporate accounting background
- Strong experience managing month-end close
- Deep understanding of accrual accounting and GAAP
- Advanced Excel and accounting system proficiency
Compensation
- Market benchmark salary range: $120,000 – $140,000 base salary plus performance bonus. As a startup company, Realty of America may structure compensation using a combination of competitive base salary and potential equity participation.
