Position Overview
We are seeking an Analyst / Sr. Analyst, Financial Reporting to join our External Reporting team. This role supports the preparation of the Company’s SEC filings, monthly close activities, and key reporting processes. The position will be filled at either the Analyst or Senior Analyst level, depending on experience.
The Analyst, Financial Reporting focuses on foundational reporting and accounting tasks, SEC filing support, and enhancing reporting efficiency through process improvements.
The Senior Analyst, Financial Reporting plays a more advanced role in drafting SEC filings, managing key close procedures, coordinating with auditors, and ensuring compliance with all SEC, GAAP, and SOX requirements.

Offers near the high end are uncommon but may be considered for candidates with exceptional experience and skills and are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. An annual pay rate and total compensation package is generally determined by the candidate's experience, knowledge, education, skills, performance, and abilities, as well as internal equity, company performance, and alignment with market data.

Key Responsibilities

General Ledger & Consolidation
- Prepare equity accounting, including share-based compensation.
- Perform review procedures on monthly consolidation and financial statements in Yardi.
- Support consolidated financial statement analytics and monthly flux analyses.
- Assist with month-end close tasks, including preparation of select account reconciliations.
- Support quarterly and annual SEC filings (10-Q, 10-K, 8-Ks, and ad hoc filings).
- Compile financial data for internal and external reporting packages.
- Prepare assigned financial schedules.
- Review financial information included in Investor Presentations.
- Complete required governmental surveys.
- Assist with external auditor requests during quarterly reviews and annual audits.
General Ledger & Consolidation
- Perform month-end close for select equity accounts, including share reconciliation within Yardi Investment Management.
- Prepare reconciliations and journal entries related to share-based compensation and equity accounting.
- Prepare monthly RILP dividend wire packages and non-controlling interest schedules.
- Perform consolidation validation procedures.
- Draft quarterly and annual reports on Form 10-Q and 10-K, including financial statements, footnotes, and MD&A.
- Review financial data included in Company filings and Investor Presentations.
- Coordinate external audit requests.
- Prepare selected 8-K filings in Workiva, including XBRL tagging.
- File SEC documents via Workiva.
- Prepare additional SEC documents such as registration statements and the Proxy (DEF 14A).
- Support Section 16 reporting (Forms 3, 4) in coordination with Legal.
- Complete required governmental surveys.
- Serve as an administrator of Workiva and support continuous improvements in reporting workflows.
- Lead or participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and internal controls.
- Conduct accounting research and support special projects as needed.
A qualified candidate is typically expected to have:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Big 4 experience preferred.
- CPA license preferred.
- Real estate or REIT experience a plus.
- Workiva experience preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently in ambiguous situations.
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment and meet public company reporting deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 2 years of experience in industry or public accounting (REIT/real estate preferred).
- Big 4 experience preferred.
- CPA license preferred.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, SEC, and SOX requirements.
- Ability to lead tasks independently and work effectively amid evolving requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain accounting concepts to non-accountants.
- Experience with Yardi, Equity Edge Online, Computershare, and Workiva preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, complex formulas, macros, pivot tables, financial model review/building).
- Strong problem-solving skills and a high degree of accuracy.
