Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Full-Time Residential Aide for our 3pm-11pm shift to provide high-quality care and support to residents in a long-term substance use treatment facility. The Residential Aide supervises clients, assisting with daily living activities, and maintaining a safe and structured environment here at Reality House. Key responsibilities involve monitoring clients' well-being and behavior, assisting with medication as needed, and handling crisis situations. They also perform administrative tasks like record-keeping, managing supplies, and participating in staff meetings.
Core responsibilities
- Client supervision: Monitor client whereabouts, activities, and general well-being to ensure safety and compliance with program rules.
- Daily living assistance: Help residents with daily routines.
- Medication monitoring: Ensure residents take their prescribed medication correctly and assist with self-administration when needed.
- Crisis intervention: Provide direct support and intervention during a crisis, and report incidents to supervisors following RHI policy & procedures and OASAS guidelines.
- Documentation: Maintain logs of resident activities, behaviors, and health status. This includes completing intake paperwork and incident reports.
- Facility maintenance: Conduct house rounds, ensure the facility is clean and orderly, and manage supplies like food and cleaning agents.
- Administrative tasks: Answer phones, greet visitors, prepare toxicology requisitions, and handle various paperwork as required.
- Support groups and activities: Encourage residents to participate in and assist with educational or recreational groups and activities.
- Other tasks as assigned
Essential skills and qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is typically required.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations, including crisis intervention.
- Maturity, reliability, and compassion.
- Physical and emotional resilience to handle complex or emotional situations.
- Prior experience in a shelter, healthcare, or related social services setting is often preferred.
Pay: $20.00 per hour
