Senior Director, Health & Safety
Location: Paramus, NJ (Hybrid with Travel Required)
About the Role:
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Director of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) to lead their organization-wide safety and compliance initiatives. This senior leadership position is responsible for driving a proactive, prevention-focused safety culture while ensuring full regulatory compliance across a diverse portfolio of operational sites.
The ideal candidate will bring a blend of strategic vision and hands-on experience, with the ability to build strong internal partnerships and develop scalable systems that support long-term safety and operational goals.
Key Responsibilities:

Design and implement a company-wide EHS strategy aligned with overall business objectives

Promote a culture of safety excellence through leadership, training, and employee engagement

Ensure organizational compliance with all relevant safety and environmental regulations

Oversee risk assessments, incident investigations, and corrective action plans

Lead and develop a team of EHS professionals across multiple locations

Collaborate with senior leadership and operational teams to embed safety into core business processes

Manage emergency preparedness and response planning

Monitor EHS performance and utilize data to drive continuous improvement

Keep current with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory updates
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Safety Management, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred)

10 years of progressive experience in EHS, including 5 years in a senior leadership role

Demonstrated success in leading company-wide EHS programs and building high-performing teams

Strong understanding of safety and environmental regulations

Effective communicator with excellent leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills

Ability to travel 30–50% to support multi-site operations

CSP, CIH, or equivalent certification preferred

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required
