Position Title: REACH Medical Psychiatrist
Part time or contracted
Reports to: Chief Medical Officer
Position Goals and Role:
Medical Providers at REACH Medical provide low threshold, harm reduction oriented medical care in a multi-disciplinary, integrated practice to further the REACH Mission of ensuring health equity to all who typically face stigma in the current healthcare system.
This role is primarily a clinical supervising role for advanced practice providers certified or very experienced in psychiatric care.
Responsibilities:
See Patients either in person or via telehealth at least 4 hours a week who are referred within the practice for psychiatric medication management. These patients will all have co-occurring substance use disorder and mental health diagnoses and will need prescriptions for medications for addiction and mental health diagnoses.
Provide a warm handoff back to providers who deliver substance use disorder care on an as needed basis.
Collaboration with operations and behavioral health teams to expand services across a 9 county region; developing ways to do quick psychiatric intakes in order to engage patients most in need.
Provide clinical supervision to psychiatric advanced practice providers and licensed social workers.
Provide clinical education to students, residents and fellows via telehealth on an as needed basis.
Attend a weekly behavioral health zoom meeting to discuss high risk patients and care plans.
Deliver collaborative, accessible, high quality care to patients free of stigma
Attend quarterly provider meetings via zoom
Attend all mandatory staff trainings
Work collaboratively with: REACH contracted and employed medical providers and other program staff including but not limited to: Primary Care providers; Behavioral Health providers; Peer, Community Health Workers and Outreach staff; MAT providers. Nursing staff;Front Desk staff; Care Management staff; Management team.
Abide by REACH standards of care for including: Maintain required state and federal credentials and work with REACH and other needed credentialing team members to maintain needed credentials (for physicians this would include credentialing with the clinically integrated network affiliated with Cayuga Health System) Provider quality documentation in the EMR in a timely manner with the inclusion of appropriate medical billing, Be able to see between 3 and 4 patients an hour, .Be flexible to see an increased number of patients or add ins as needed
Qualifications:
Physician Board Certified in Addiction Medicine
Demonstration of both significant experience in and commitment to providing care to underserved populations as the foundation of REACH Medical is the provision of harm reduction-based, trauma-informed, low threshold care without stigma.
Solid communication skills and ability to work well within a multidisciplinary agency.
Deep understanding and belief in harm reduction, health equity, diversity and inclusion.
