Summary
The Billing Specialist is responsible for the completion of billing for REACH Behavioral Health and CJ Hendry, including the insurance verification, claim submission, payment posting, and follow up with clients and insurance companies. This position is also responsible for maintaining accurate data in client records related to billing information, insurance plans, and client balances.
REACH Behavioral Health and its subsidiary, CJ Hendry are growing, multi-location behavioral health agencies. The combined agencies currently serve 1,500 clients at 12 locations throughout Northeast Ohio.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Submit claims for services rendered by REACH Behavioral Health and CJ Hendry
· Coordinate with Finance Department and Chief Operating Officer on a regular basis to identify late accounts and develop action steps
· Maintain accurate account and billing records for clients
· Respond to client and/or insurance inquiries regarding billing
· Post insurance and client payments to accounts
· Verify client insurance eligibility and benefits
· Perform month end processes including completion of data entry, the review and correction of edits, and the reconciliation of claims posting
· Stay informed with new Ohio mental health laws that effect billing
· Maintain compliance with state and federal laws and agency policies and procedures outlined by REACH’s accrediting agency
Education, Skills, and Experience
· Minimum Associate’s degree or previous experience is preferred
· Prior experience in insurance billing is preferred
· Experience working in an electronic heath record (EHR)
· Excellent communication and writing skills
· Planning and time management skills
Job Schedule and Working Conditions
· The job follows a year-round schedule for a total of 249 work days in a year
· Work is performed in an office environment with an option for remote work
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour
