What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping & Receiving Lead position at REA?
Currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill the role of Shipping and Receiving Clerk and join the expanding team of a small company specializing in online sales.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Count items in incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against invoices, orders and other records.
- Determine method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures and rates.
- Affix shipping labels on packed boxes.
- Assemble cardboard boxes, or select preassembled boxes.
- Insert items into boxes, using filler and protective padding.
- Stamp or write identifying information and shipping instructions onto boxes.
- Post weights and shipping charges and affix postage.
- Unpack and examine incoming shipments and correspond with shipper to confirm receipt or verify discrepancies.
- Ensure that outgoing shipments meet specifications.
- Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
- Direct others in preparing outgoing and receiving incoming shipments.
- Record all information accurately.
- Keep Inventory or Operations Managers informed of any problems or discrepancies.
- Notify co-workers when incoming shipments arrive to their attention.
The ideal candidate will possess at least two years experience in shipping and receiving, with expertise in all major carriers (FedEx, UPS, and USPS); proficiency in computer usage, including Microsoft Office (Word and Excel); and an unrivaled attention to detail. The ability to lift items up to 60lbs is required as is a valid driver's license. Knowledge of sports is a bonus. Willingness to step in to other areas of the business, specifically basic data entry, during any down times in shipping/receiving is a must. Occasional travel to pick up/drop off items at customers/vendors may be requested.
