What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Engineer position at RdF?
RdF Corporation is a leading precision sensor company specializing in the design, qualification, and manufacture of high-reliability sensors for demanding aerospace, energy, defense, and research applications. Founded in 1955 and located in Hudson, NH, our products serve critical environments where performance and accuracy are non-negotiable.
RdF Corporation seeks an Electrical Engineer to support both existing product lines and the development of next-generation sensor solutions. The ideal candidate thrives in a hands-on engineering environment, is comfortable owning projects from concept through production, and can collaborate effectively with external researchers, suppliers, and customers to deliver precision measurement solutions.
Responsibilities of the Electrical Engineer- Lead electrical engineering projects from initial concept through design, prototyping, validation, and production release.
- Support and improve existing sensor product lines, including design modifications, failure analysis, and process optimization.
- Design and develop analog and digital circuits for precision measurement applications, including signal conditioning, data acquisition, and sensor interface electronics.
- Create, execute, and document prototype builds and engineering test plans; analyze results and iterate designs accordingly.
- Collaborate with outside researchers, universities, and industry partners on advanced sensor development programs.
- Manage vendor and supplier relationships for electrical components and subassemblies; evaluate and qualify new sources as needed.
- Develop and maintain engineering documentation including schematics, BOMs, test procedures, and design specifications.
- Contribute to firmware or embedded software development for sensor systems where applicable.
- Support manufacturing engineering by providing guidance on assembly, test, and inspection of electrical assemblies.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., MIL-SPEC, IPC J-STD, 10CFR50).
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field required; advanced degree a plus.
- Experience with analog circuit design, particularly for precision measurement, low-noise amplification, or sensor signal conditioning.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a project independently from requirements definition through execution and delivery.
- Hands-on experience designing and testing prototypes; comfortable with iteration and working in a lab environment.
- Proficiency with test and measurement equipment including oscilloscopes, data acquisition systems, multimeters, and spectrum analyzers.
- Experience working with external partners such as research institutions, contract manufacturers, or component vendors.
- Proficiency with CAD software (e.g. Solidworks) and PCB design tools (e.g., Altium, KiCad, or equivalent).
- Strong technical writing skills; ability to produce clear and complete engineering documentation.
- Experience in a regulated or quality-managed environment (AS9100, ISO 9001, or similar) is preferred.
- Candidates must be available to work M–F, be at least 18 years old, and able to pass a drug test.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- We offer competitive compensation packages and meaningful opportunities for professional growth. If you are a motivated engineer looking to contribute to precision technology that matters, we would love to hear from you.
