Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Contracts Manager role based in Yorkshire, VA. The Contracts Manager will oversee the commercial and contractual aspects of multiple civil engineering projects, ensuring compliance with client agreements, regulatory requirements, and company standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts; managing contract documentation; tracking variations and claims; and maintaining accurate records throughout the project lifecycle. The person in this role will work closely with project managers, site teams, clients, and suppliers to monitor performance, manage risk, and resolve contractual issues. They will also support tender preparation, contribute to cost control and forecasting, and help drive value engineering and best practices across projects.
Qualifications
- Strong experience in contract management within civil engineering, construction, or related infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of relevant contract forms, construction law basics, and regulatory requirements for public realm and highway schemes.
- Proficiency in project documentation management, including contract drafting, reviewing, negotiation, and change control.
- Solid commercial acumen with skills in cost control, budgeting, forecasting, and managing claims and variations.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and collaboration skills for working with clients, internal teams, and external partners.
- High attention to detail, strong organizational abilities, and capability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Competence in using office and project management software (e.g., MS Office, document control systems, spreadsheets).
- Relevant professional qualifications or degree in construction management, civil engineering, quantity surveying, or a related discipline preferred.
- Experience in UK civil engineering, adoptions, Section 278 schemes, or public realm projects is highly beneficial.
