Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to lead our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong clinical background and a commitment to providing high-quality patient care across various settings. This role requires proficiency in patient assessment, medication administration, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. This RN, as the Lead Medical Coordinator (LMC) is responsible for promoting timely quality medical care using sound medical judgment to unaccompanied minors ages 10-17 residing in a 24-hour shelter. The LMC serves as the first point of contact with primary medical care providers and supervises all aspects of the medical department. Must ensure compliance with established medical policies and procedures, relevant Michigan Department of Health and Human Services licensing standards, and Office of Refugee Resettlement contract requirements.

Hours: Commonly 40-45 hours per week, but based on needs of the business. (Work-Life Balance!)
Wage: $90,00.00 per year
Shift: Mostly 8am-5pm, but occasionally shift will vary.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assesses, plans, and evaluates medical needs of youth using evidence-based practices.
On-call rotation with Assistant Lead Medical Coordinator.
Supervises and delegates tasks to Medical Coordinators to ensure timely execution of physician’s orders including the self-administration of prescribed and over the counter medication.
Creates a monthly department schedule to ensure medical services 365/24/7.
Completes on-the-job training with new Medical Coordinators.
Completes 90 day and annual evaluations for employees reporting successes and challenges.
Adheres to policies and procedures for the storage of medication according to relevant state and federal standards.
Conducts quality assurance checks on medication logs (medication administration records(MARS)), medical charts/files, documentation and reports any findings to Program Direct or timely.
Provides support to the Specialized Intake Team and assists in assessing and addressing each child’s medical/healthcare needs upon intake. This will include interviewing youth using a child friendly and trauma informed approach to gather a comprehensive medical history, conduct/facilitate COVID testing, and obtaining youth’s vital signs (blood pressure check, pulse, breathing rate, temperature check, etc.), including height and weight check and checking for any irregularities on the youth’s body (rash, blisters, etc.).
Other responsibilities as needed by the program.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Licensed RN with (a) Bachelor's degree OR (b) Higher Health Qualification, e.g. Physician's assistant or Nurse Practitioner
AND
at least 1 year of (a) exp in Public Health or (b)healthcare setting with experience in care coordination, health Administration or direct clinical care.
1 year of experience working with children or youth is preferred.
Proven experience in a supervisory position preferred.
Current basic life support certification, PALS, and ACLS preferred.
Show a history of organizational skills and an ability to communicate accurately and effectively with multiple members of a team.
Well organized, highly motivated, excellent communication skills, leadership skills that also display integrity.
