We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Accountant to lead the monthly close and financial reporting process while supporting project-based accounting activities. This role plays a key part in ensuring financial accuracy, strengthening internal controls, and providing valuable insights into project performance, including work-in-process (WIP), revenue recognition, and overall profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Close Process
- Lead the month-end close, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements
- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and general ledger reconciliations
- Analyze budget-to-actual results and provide variance explanations and trend insights
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
- Support quarterly and annual audit activities
- Manage project accounting across active jobs, including cost tracking, margin analysis and revenue allocation
- Maintain and analyze WIP schedules (percent complete, cost to complete, profitability forecasts)
- Partner with project managers to validate progress, update forecasts, and identify risks
- Monitor job costing, including labor, materials, and subcontractor expenses
- Support revenue recognition in accordance with accounting standards (e.g., percentage-of-completion)
- Strengthen and maintain internal controls across accounting and project processes
- Identify opportunities to improve workflows, reporting, and system efficiencies
- Drive automation and process enhancements to improve accuracy and timeliness
- Work closely with operations, project management, and leadership teams
- Provide financial insights to support decision-making and project performance
- Communicate key financial trends and recommendations to stakeholders
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- CPA or CMA preferred
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including financial reporting and project accounting
- Experience in construction, engineering, manufacturing, or other project-based environments strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and WIP accounting principles
- Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyze large data sets
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities

Salary : $85,000 - $110,000
