Job Title: Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to join our team. As a PTA, you will work closely with our licensed physical therapists to help patients regain physical functionality and improve their overall quality of life. Your primary responsibility will be providing hands-on therapy to patients, implementing treatment plans, and assisting them with exercises and rehabilitative activities.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Conduct thorough initial assessments of patients to evaluate their physical abilities and establish treatment goals.
2. Assist in developing individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the physical therapist.
3. Implement treatment plans by utilizing therapeutic exercises and activities to promote patients' strength, flexibility, and mobility.
4. Provide hands-on therapy to patients, including manual techniques, therapeutic modalities, and specialized equipment.
5. Educate patients and their families on exercises and techniques for ongoing home therapy and self-care.
6. Observe patients' progress and modify treatment plans accordingly to ensure optimal outcomes.
7. Document patient progress, treatment plans, and interventions accurately and in a timely manner.
8. Collaborate with the physical therapist and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and address any concerns or changes in their condition.
9. Adhere to all medical and legal regulations, guidelines, and best practices in the provision of physical therapy services.
10. Maintain a clean and organized therapy area, ensuring the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
11. Assist in scheduling patient appointments, managing patient records, and maintaining confidentiality of patient information.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Associate's degree in Physical Therapy Assistant program from an accredited institution.
2. Valid state licensure as a Physical Therapy Assistant.
3. CPR certification.
4. Prior experience in a similar role is preferred but not mandatory.
5. Proficient knowledge of anatomy, kinesiology, and physical therapy techniques.
6. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
7. Ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.
8. Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
9. Physical stamina and dexterity to assist patients with exercises and move equipment.
10. Attention to detail and accuracy in documenting patient progress and treatment plans.
11. Knowledge of electronic medical record systems is advantageous.
12. Commitment to continuing education and staying updated with the latest advancements in physical therapy.
13. Empathy and compassion to provide emotional support and encouragement to patients throughout their therapy journey.
14. Flexibility to adapt to changing patient needs and work schedules.
15. Ethical conduct and adherence to patient confidentiality regulations.
