Job Title: Physical Therapy Assistant
Job Summary:
The Physical Therapy Assistant is responsible for assisting physical therapists in providing treatment to patients who are recovering from injuries or illnesses. They help patients to regain movement and manage pain under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist with therapeutic exercises and activities planned by the physical therapist
- Monitor patient progress and report back to the physical therapist
- Help patients with stretching, strengthening, and balance exercises
- Educate patients on proper exercise techniques and home exercise programs
- Prepare and maintain treatment areas
- Assist with modalities such as heat, cold, ultrasound, and electrical stimulation
- Provide emotional support to patients during therapy sessions
- Maintain patient records and documentation
Qualifications and Skills:
- Associate's degree in physical therapy assisting
- Certification or licensure as a physical therapy assistant
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well in a team setting
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology
- Ability to follow directions and work independently
- Physical stamina and strength to assist patients with exercises
