What are the responsibilities and job description for the Design Assistant position at Raymond Design Builders?
Interior Design Assistant - Grow With Us!
Job Summary:
Are you a recent or soon-to-be graduate in interior design looking to get your start in the industry? If you're interested in gaining hands-on experience and learning the ropes of the business before focusing on design, we’d love to have you join our growing design-build team. You’ll start by supporting our operations and gradually transition into a design role as you gain experience.
This is a hybrid entry-level role that starts with a strong focus on operations and project coordination. You’ll gain hands-on experience supporting our high-performing team, learning the ins and outs of how a successful remodeling business operates. Over time, you may transition into design responsibilities—but know that this will be a gradual process, and may not be a full-time design role right away.
We’re looking for someone who’s organized, proactive, and eager to learn. If you’re ready to contribute to a collaborative team and help us create beautiful, functional spaces, this is the perfect place for you to grow.
Your Role: Learn, Contribute, and Grow Phase 1: Operations & Project Support (The Foundation)
- Keep the wheels turning: Manage scheduling, paperwork, deliveries, and communications to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
- Coordinate logistics: Work with vendors, subcontractors, and clients to ensure timely and professional communication.
- Assist with administrative tasks: Support our marketing, sales, production, and design teams with operational and organizational tasks.
- Organize design materials: Help maintain sample libraries and ensure materials and samples are well organized and accessible.
- Oversee project coordination: Assist with site scheduling, follow-up on subcontractor work, and manage quotes and estimates.
- Track progress: Maintain project calendars, documentation, and tracking systems to keep projects on course.
Phase 2: Gradual Transition into Design Responsibilities (Your Growth)
As you gain experience and confidence in the role, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to design tasks. Please note that these responsibilities will evolve over time and may not be full-time design work at the start:
- Support design selections: Assist in material and finish selections to elevate design concepts.
- Assist with client presentations: Help prepare presentations that communicate design ideas to clients.
- Learn design software: Get hands-on experience with design and project management software used by our team.
- Collaborate with designers: Attend design meetings and contribute to the brainstorming and creative process.
- Build design experience: Gradually gain exposure to real design projects, learning both technical and creative skills along the way.
What We’re Looking For:
- Degree: A degree (or expected graduation in 2026) in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
- Organized & Communicative: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities.
- Eager to Learn: A positive attitude, willingness to take on diverse tasks, and a genuine interest in the design and remodeling industry.
- Tech-Savvy: Comfortable with tools like email, spreadsheets, and calendars to manage tasks and stay organized.
- Bonus Skills: Familiarity with design software like Revit, AutoCAD, or SketchUp is a plus, but not required.
Why Join Us?
This role offers hands-on experience in both interior design and day-to-day operations. You’ll learn practical skills while supporting the team and have the chance to take on more responsibility over time. We value reliability and growth, and there may be opportunities to advance as you gain experience.
If you’re ready to roll up your sleeves, learn fast, and start your journey toward a design career, we want to hear from you! Please email resume, portfolio(if applicable) and cover letter to Raymonddesignbuilders@gmail.com
