Role Summary
The Preconstruction Estimator prepares accurate, complete, and risk-aware estimates for Raydeo’s architectural millwork, metalwork, and related scopes before project award.
This role reviews bid documents, performs quantity takeoffs, coordinates vendor and subcontractor pricing, develops scope language, identifies risks, and prepares clean bid submissions and award handoff packages.
The Estimator supports project readiness but does not own post-award execution, client management, schedule enforcement, or financial outcome after handoff.
Key Responsibilities
- Review bid invitations, drawings, specifications, addenda, and scope documents for fit, completeness, schedule feasibility, and risk.
- Perform detailed takeoffs and build estimates using Raydeo standards, templates, historical data, vendor pricing, and labor assumptions.
- Prepare clear inclusions, exclusions, qualifications, alternates, assumptions, bid forms, pricing summaries, and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, Installation, Accounting, and Project Management to validate scope, pricing, lead times, labor, and feasibility.
- Flag missing information, conflicts, unusual requirements, schedule compression, field condition risk, and pricing concerns before bid release.
- Track addenda, revise estimates as needed, support post-bid clarifications, and prepare clean handoff packages for awarded work.

Role Boundaries
- Post-award project execution, client management, schedule enforcement, and financial ownership remain with Project Management and operations leadership.
- The Estimator may support kickoff or scope-review meetings as needed, but the primary focus is accurate pre-award estimating and handoff readiness.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience estimating commercial construction, architectural millwork, casework, interiors, metalwork, specialty fabrication, or related scopes.
- Ability to read drawings, specifications, finish schedules, elevations, sections, details, addenda, and change documents.
- Strong takeoff, cost analysis, scope writing, quote leveling, bid documentation, organization, and written communication skills.
- Ability to identify missing scope, conflicts, schedule risk, cost risk, and unclear proposal requirements before pricing is finalized.
- Proficiency or trainability with Microsoft 365, BuildingConnected, Innergy, ComputerEase, Bluebeam/PlanSwift or similar tools, and Raydeo software platforms.
Position Requirements
- Reliable attendance and punctuality, especially during active bid cycles and submission deadlines.
- Some overnight travel or job site visits may be required for pre-bid walks, field verification, or scope review.
- Pass drug screening per Georgia Drug-Free Workplace Policy and follow PPE requirements when visiting the shop, field, or active job sites.
- Obtain OSHA 10 Construction within first 30 days, unless a higher certification is already held or otherwise directed by Raydeo.
Success Profile
- Produces complete, traceable, and defendable estimates aligned with Raydeo’s operational capacity.
- Writes clean scope language that reduces ambiguity and helps prevent avoidable project disputes after award.
- Catches risk early, documents assumptions, escalates concerns, and creates a smooth handoff to Accounting and Project Management.
