What are the responsibilities and job description for the Forklift Driver position at RATTO BROS?
JOB SUMMARY:
Forklift Operator is responsible to safely operate a forklift at various locations around the field receiving area, storage yard, and in the facility. The operator must safely pick and lower pallets from facility racking system for order completion and delivery. Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective repacking and distribution of all commodities. Checks equipment daily and fills out equipment inspection forms, reports any equipment defects or equipment questions to supervisor. Understands how to properly build pallets with correct stacking patterns, correct product on bottom (heaviest), etc. the operator uses Redline Cooler systems to maintains inventory control of all areas with the FIFO methodology to allow for proper commodity rotations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES:
- Move and transport materials between loading, processing, and storage areas.
- Move levers and controls that operate lifting devices, such as forklifts, lift beams and swivel-hooks, hoists, and elevating platforms, to load, unload transport, and stack material.
- Obtains merchandise from bins or shelves.
- Picks customer orders for shipment, ensuring that the correct number and type of product is loaded and shipped.
- Carries or transports orders to shipping locations or delivery platforms with materials handling equipment i.e. pallet jack or forklift, ensuring orders are pre-staged in order of delivery.
- Acquires and attaches labels and pallet tags as required for product traceability requirements.
- Position lifting devices under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, and boxes, and secure material or products for transport to designated areas
- Manually or mechanically load and unload materials from pallets, skids, platforms, lifting devices, or other transport vehicles.
- Weigh materials or products, and record weight and other production data on tags or labels.
- Operate or tend automatic stacking, loading and packaging.
- Signal workers to discharge, dump, or level materials.
- Operates any materials handling equipment safely and efficiently as required.
- Must work well under pressure, meeting multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines.
- Must, at all times, demonstrate cooperative behavior with co workers, supervisors and management
- Ability to follow all Good Manufacturing Practices
- Must follow Good Housekeeping and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Employee needs to follow all safety rules as outlined in training forms
- Follow company policies, safety procedures, and regulations
- Must communicate problems and needs to the supervisor.
- Enters label and lot number on Pick Tickets when needed
- Understands inventory rotation principles.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Employee must be able to speak simple sentences and take simple instructions. Bilingual in Spanish is prefer, but not required.

REASONING ABILITY:
Employee must have ability to apply common sense understanding to carry given instructions.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Works under the direct supervision and direction of the Produce Facility Manager or his designee.

- The employee must regularly lift 10 pounds and occasionally 50 pounds.

- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- The work environment is cold. Temperatures range from 34 degrees to 38 degrees inside facility. Outside temperatures could range from 34 degrees to 110 degrees.
