Order Selector

JOB SUMMARY:
The order Selector responsible for filling customer orders and loading/unloading trucks in a manner that meets Company standards for safety (worker safety and food safety), security, productivity and accuracy, i.e. completeness / correctness of all orders filled. An order selector is also responsible for operating all equipment safely and for understanding how to build pallets and orders properly. The operator must safely pick and lower pallets from facility racking system for order completion and delivery. Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective repacking and distribution of all commodities. Checks equipment daily and fills out equipment inspection forms, reports any equipment defects or equipment questions to supervisor. Understands how to properly build pallets with correct stacking patterns, correct product on bottom (heaviest), etc. the operator uses Redline Cooler systems to maintains inventory control of all areas with the FIFO methodology to allow for proper commodity rotations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES:

• Receives pick tickets from Shipping Supervisor and reads customer orders to determine the commodity/item number (size, color, quality, and quantity), label or vendor, container type and size, country of origin, pallet type, lot date and lot number/ P.O. number.
• Obtains merchandise from bins or shelves.
• Picks customer orders for shipment, ensuring that the correct number and type of product is loaded and shipped.
• Uses materials handling equipment such as a pallet jack or forklift to move pallets and containers to assemble orders based on the pick ticket, and moves pallets and orders from produce storage areas to order staging and shipping locations.
• Learns and operates the Redline Warehouse Inventory Management System by using a scan gun to read orders and pull inventory properly to fill orders.
• Builds orders using FIFO (First In First Out) inventory method in Redline, unless otherwise advised by the Supervisor.
• Acquires and attaches labels and pallet tags as required for product traceability requirements.
• Enters label and lot number on Pick Tickets when needed.
• Checks equipment (i.e. pallet jack and forklift) daily and fills out equipment inspection forms.
• Carries or transports orders to shipping locations or delivery platforms with materials handling equipment i.e. pallet jack or forklift, ensuring orders are pre-staged in order of delivery.
• Acquires and attaches labels and pallet tags as required for product traceability requirements.
• Position lifting devices under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, and boxes, and secure material or products for transport to designated areas
• Manually or mechanically load and unload materials from pallets, skids, platforms, lifting devices, or other transport vehicles.
• Weigh materials or products, and record weight and other production data on tags or labels.
• Operates any materials handling equipment safely and efficiently as required.
• Must work well under pressure, meeting multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines.
• Must, at all times, demonstrate cooperative behavior with co workers, supervisors and management
• Ability to follow all Good Manufacturing Practices
• Must follow Good Housekeeping and Standard Operating Procedures.
• Employee needs to follow all safety rules as outlined in training forms
• Follow company policies, safety procedures, and regulations
• Must communicate problems and needs to the supervisor.
• Understands inventory rotation principles.
