Role Description
The Campaign Manager is a full-time, on-site position located in Washington, DC. The Campaign Manager will oversee all aspects of the campaign, including strategy development, budget management, and team leadership. Key responsibilities include managing fundraising efforts, field organizing, voter outreach efforts, and campaign communications. The manager is responsible for supervising staff, consultants, and volunteers while working directly with the candidate to ensure alignment with campaign objectives. This position requires flexibility, as non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays, are expected.
Qualifications
- Experience and skills in Campaign Management, Campaigns, and leading successful political efforts
- Strong Communication skills, including the ability to lead messaging, public relations, and social media strategies
- Project Management expertise and the ability to handle budgets, timelines, and operations efficiently
- Experience or proficiency in Sales-related tasks, including fundraising, donor engagement, and event coordination
- Familiarity with NGP/VAN systems and tools
- Team management experience, with the ability to lead and coordinate diverse stakeholders, staff, and volunteers
- Flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Enthusiasm for community-oriented and grassroots-driven campaigns
General Responsibilities:
- Budget & Fundraising
- Schedule and coordinate call time with the candidate/finance consultant
- Maintain a campaign budget & fundraising program, including developing and executing digital fundraising strategies and in-person fundraisers
Campaign Strategy
- Serve as thought partner and advisor in developing a strategic campaign plan in coordination with advisors and consultants
- Build and maintain political relationships
Voter Outreach
- Manage community outreach and field organizing efforts, with the goal of building a diverse political coalition
- Manage volunteer recruitment and engagement, including developing volunteer onboarding processes and retention strategies
- Manage field organizer including overseeing canvass operations and phone banks
- Oversee the execution of a robust field program
- Staff events as needed
Communications
- Write and post social media posts, press releases, endorsement questionnaires, and text messages and emails on behalf of the campaign and make website edits as needed
- Field incoming campaign email correspondence and track accounts as needed
- Help refine messaging and talking points
Team Leader
- Manage relationships with consultants, advisors, and volunteers
- Manage paid staff
- Help manage candidate’s schedule to ensure strategic focus on donor and voter contact
- Other tasks as needed to support the candidate
Must Have:
- Well-versed in campaign technologies such as NGP, VAN, P2P texting platforms, Canva, Mailchimp, CRMs, Google Suite, ActBlue, Action Network, Switchboard
- Prior experience leading grassroots, labor, and/or political organizing, including at least one cycle in management
- Track record of winning concrete campaign victories, mobilizing large numbers of people into action, and building community leadership
- Ability to take initiative and ability to manage multiple projects
- Experience managing a campaign or grant budget
- The ability to effectively lead and motivate a diverse team of paid staff and volunteers
Nice to Have:
- Spanish proficiency
- Experience managing staff or volunteers virtually is highly desired
- Previous fundraising experience or candidate management experience is highly desired
- Extensive knowledge of Ward 1 and DC local politics
Time and Compensation:
Job Type: Full-time, with evening, weekend, and some holiday availability Pay: $30 per hour/15-20 hourly range weekly from Jan-June 2026 (maximum of 40 hours upon availability and need). Salary commensurate with experience.
