Raritan Valley Community College is currently seeking a Part-Time, Early College Academic Advisor for the Advising & Transfer Services department.
The Early College Academic Advisor will advise new, returning and continuing students regarding academic planning, course selection, choice of major, transfer & career options along with other areas, as needed. The Advising & Transfer department focuses on student retention and works to support students in overcoming barriers that might hinder the path to graduation.
Essential Duties:
Advise students on academic planning, course selection, and choice of major, academic standards, educational strategies, transfer & career information and other areas as needed.
Serve as the primary liaison between the Advising & Transfer Services office and Early College Credits/assigned academic departments, fostering strong collaborative relationships to support student success, maintain up-to-date knowledge of assigned departmental programs, policies, and resources, provide training or information to team members as needed.
Collect and analyze data related to student participation, success rates, and program effectiveness.
Work as part of a team to support the strategic goals of the College including assuring all students have an academic and career plan.
Support the activities of Admissions and Recruitment.
Maintain accurate and current knowledge of degree and certificate programs of study, academic policies and operations, and College rules and procedures while maintaining security of student records and correspondence with appropriately strict confidentiality.
Make informed professional judgments regarding student referral to personal counselors, financial aid, career counseling and other campus services.
Perform other related duties, as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Sociology, or related field.
Minimum 3 years of experience working directly in a student service setting.
Demonstrated track record of excellent student service and commitment to overall student success.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Education, Counseling, or Higher Education Administration, preferred.
Bilingual, preferred.
