About RareOne

RareOne Group is building a modern platform that empowers independent marketing agencies to scale like enterprises—while maintaining the focus, creativity, and agility that make them great.

We bring together best-in-class agencies under a shared infrastructure of talent, systems, and support—allowing each to grow faster without losing their identity. Today, RareOne includes three agencies (MKR, RingoFire, MightyUnion) and ~100 employees, with ambitious plans to expand. See rareone.io. This is a remote position with occasional travel. Preference for Eastern or Central U.S. time zone.

The Role

We’re looking for a strategic, people-first VP of Talent & Development to build and scale the people function from the platform level across all RareOne agencies.

This is not a maintenance role. This is a builder role. You’ll design and lead recruiting, leadership development, and culture across multiple brands—partnering directly with executive leadership to shape how RareOne grows.

If you’ve been wanting to build a modern, high-impact HR function from the ground up in a dynamic environment—this is that opportunity!

What You’ll Own

Talent Acquisition & Employer Brand

  • Build and lead a scalable recruiting strategy across all agencies
  • Partner with leaders on workforce planning and hiring priorities
  • Develop strong talent pipelines for key and future leadership roles
  • Elevate employer brand to attract top creative, technical, and leadership talent
  • Improve candidate experience and time-to-hire

Culture & Employee Engagement

  • Design initiatives that improve engagement, retention, and morale
  • Implement feedback systems (surveys, loops) and turn insights into action
  • Foster a cohesive culture across multiple agencies—without losing individual identity
  • Lead internal communications around people and culture

Learning, Development & Career Growth

  • Create structured career paths across roles and agencies
  • Build and scale learning & development programs
  • Implement performance management frameworks that drive growth and accountability
  • Enable internal mobility and promotions

Leadership Development

  • Design and deliver training for managers and leaders
  • Coach agency leaders on performance, feedback, and team dynamics
  • Build onboarding and development programs for new managers
  • Strengthen the leadership bench across the organization

HR Strategy & Operations

  • Partner with executive leadership to align people strategy with business goals
  • Standardize best practices across agencies where it makes sense
  • Act as a trusted advisor on all people-related topics
  • Collaborate with the PEO to ensure smooth HR operations (payroll, benefits, compliance)

What We’re Looking For

  • 10 years of progressive HR / People leadership experience
  • Experience in agencies, professional services, or multi-entity organizations strongly preferred
  • Proven success building recruiting, L&D, and engagement programs from scratch
  • Strong executive presence and ability to influence senior leaders
  • Experience working with or alongside a PEO is a plus
  • A true builder mindset—you’re excited to create, not just manage

What Success Looks Like

  • A strong, consistent talent pipeline across all agencies
  • High employee engagement and retention
  • Managers who are confident, capable leaders
  • Clear career paths and development opportunities across RareOne
  • A cohesive, high-performing culture across multiple brands

Why This Role

  • High impact: You’ll shape the people strategy across a growing platform
  • Builder opportunity: Create systems, programs, and culture from the ground up
  • Executive exposure: Work directly with founders and agency leaders
  • Growth: Be part of a company actively expanding its footprint

Location

  • Remote (U.S.)
  • Preference for Eastern or Central time zones
  • Occasional travel
