What are the responsibilities and job description for the Trades Technician II position at Rappahannock Community College?
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions for extended periods of times
- Ability to work effectively in a service-oriented environment with a diverse group of employees, students, and visitors to the college campus
- Proven ability to troubleshoot, problem-solve and use sound judgement
- Ability to effectively work in a team or independently
- Ability to effectively communicate and possess basic computer skills and knowledge, including email
- Ability to operate automotive equipment such as golf carts, 1½ ton trucks, zero turn mowers, hauling trailers, etc.
- Ability to effectively operate power and manual hand tools such as hammers, drills, high pressure washers, blowers, assorted lawn equipment, etc.
- Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds and climb ladders up to 12 feet in height
- Valid Virginia driver’s licenses is required
- Previous experience in grounds maintenance or landscaping
- Previous experience in building trades (Minor electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry)
