Duties
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics using automotive diagnostics tools to identify issues with engines, transmissions, electrical systems, and other vehicle components.
- Conduct repairs and maintenance on various vehicle systems including powertrain, suspension, brakes, steering, and alignment to ensure optimal performance.
- Utilize schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex problems accurately and efficiently.
- Repair or replace mechanical parts using hand tools and power tools, including welding when necessary for structural repairs or modifications.
- Service GM vehicles and diesel engines with specialized knowledge of their unique systems and requirements.
- Conduct ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) calibrations and updates to ensure safety features function correctly.
- Perform wheel alignments, tire rotations, brake inspections, and other routine maintenance tasks to extend vehicle lifespan.
- Maintain detailed service records, prepare auto estimates for repairs, and communicate clearly with customers about their vehicle’s needs.
Qualifications
- Proven dealership experience or extensive automotive service technician background with a strong mechanical foundation.
- Hands-on experience with automotive electrical systems, schematics reading, and diagnostics tools.
- Knowledge of ADAS technology, transmissions, powertrain components, and diesel engine repair is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and automotive service equipment.
- Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance procedures including alignment and suspension work.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to clients.
- Experience in auto estimating software and familiarity with GM vehicles is a plus.
- Valid mechanic license or certification; ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification preferred but not mandatory.
