Service Writer / Parts Counter Assistant
Location: Ham Lake, MN
Rapid Marine, a family-owned, multi-brand marine dealership, is seeking an energetic and customer-focused Service Writer / Parts Counter Assistant to join our team. We are a factory-authorized dealer and service center for Lund, Ranger, and Crestliner fishing boats; Berkshire and Harris Pontoons; and Mercury and MerCruiser engines.

Position Overview
The Service Writer / Parts Counter Assistant is the frontline connection between our customers, technicians, and parts department. This role involves assisting with service write-ups, providing accurate work orders and estimates, supporting the parts counter, and ensuring a smooth, positive experience for every customer.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Communication
· Greet customers, answer phones, and return calls promptly.
· Consult with boat owners to understand service and repair needs.
· Provide accurate cost estimates, explain repair processes, and obtain service approvals.
· Keep customers updated on repair status and timelines.
· Ensure a high level of professionalism and customer satisfaction.
Service Department Support
· Write up detailed service work orders for technicians.
· Schedule service appointments and coordinate workflow in the shop.
· Assist with warranty claims and proper documentation.
· Create work orders for new and used sold units to ensure proper prep, rigging, and delivery.
· Process service invoices and handle cashier transactions.
· Maintain organized records of service orders and customer history.
· Willingness to work extended hours during peak seasonal periods.
Parts Counter Assistance
· Research and source the correct parts, accessories, and supplies for boats and engines.
· Assist customers at the parts counter with orders and purchases.
· Support technicians by pulling and ordering required parts.
· Help manage parts inventory and stock levels.
Requirements
· Ability to work Tuesday through Saturday.
· Strong communication and organizational skills.
· Working knowledge of how a parts and service department operates.
· Previous experience in a marine, powersports, auto, or implement dealership preferred.
· Comfort with service management systems and office software.
· Basic knowledge of marine systems, engines, and repair terminology a plus.
