What are the responsibilities and job description for the Volunteer Advocate position at Rape Response, Inc.?
Join our dynamic team as a Volunteer Advocate, where your passion for social impact and leadership skills will drive meaningful change in our community. This is an unpaid role as a volunteer. As a volunteer with Bridging Hope, you will receive specialized training on answering crisis calls for those who have experienced sexual violence. Volunteer advocates are on-call 2-3 days per month, that can be during the weeknights, or weekends.
- Receive 30 hours of training
- Answer crisis calls and give referrals/resources as necessary
- Help schedule sexual assault forensic exams with the on-call nurse
- Come into the office with the client and be their advocate for the duration of the exam
- Communicate any issues with the volunteer coordinator
Requirements
- Criminal background check
- Complete mandatory 30 hour training with volunteer coordinator
- Live within 45 minutes of Gainesville Ga
- Experience/interest in working with clients who have experienced sexual violence
- Adhere to strict confidentiality
- Demonstrated leadership qualities with the ability to manage multiple calls
- Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing; comfortable engaging diverse audiences
- Empathy
- Ability to work as a team
Pay: $1.00 per hour
