Title : Secondary Math Teacher
Location : Rangely Junior Senior High School
Primary Function The Secondary Math Teacher provides engaging, standards-based instruction that promotes scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and problem-solving. The primary goal is to support students in understanding principles through investigation and experimentation while preparing them for workforce readiness in postsecondary settings.
Directly Responsible to: Building Principal
Desired Qualifications
? Hold or be able to obtain a Colorado Teaching Certificate/Licensing from the Colorado Department of Education.
? Demonstrate knowledge of Colorado standards and assessments and the ability to facilitate data-driven instruction and the standards-based classroom.
? Possess a strong background in integrating the teaching of reading, writing, and problem-solving skills.
Performance Responsibilities
? Instructional Planning and Facilitation of Learning o Plan and deliver curriculum strictly aligned to the Colorado Academic Standards (CAS) for Math.
o Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences.
o Develop schemes of work and lesson plans
o Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
o Prepare the classroom for class activities o Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities
o Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students' varying needs
o Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials
o Use relevant technology to support instruction.
o Keep updated with developments in the subject area, teaching resources, and methods, and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities
? Assessment & Evaluation of Student Performance
o Develop and administer formative and summative assessments to measure student mastery of state-defined Grade Level Expectations (GLEs).
o Observe and evaluate students' performance and development
o Assign and grade class work, homework, tests, and assignments
o Provide appropriate feedback on work o Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students
o Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures
o Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.
? Data-Driven Instruction
o Analyze student performance data to differentiate instruction and meet the needs of diverse learners, including those on IEPs, 504 plans, or MTSS plans.
o maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development
? Miscellaneous
o Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by law, district policies, and school regulations
o Prepare required reports on students and activities
o Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs and student organizations o Participate in department and school meetings, parent meetings and other teams.
o Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs
o Adhere to Board policy and Colorado School Law.
o Perform other duties as assigned. Terms of Employment/Pay Work year as determined by the annual school calendar approved by the Board. Evaluations Performance in this job will be based on the board’s evaluation policy.
