General Ledger Staff Accountant

Job Title: Sr GL Staff Accountant

Location: either Lowell MA or Weston FL (Hybrid, Tues & Wed from office).

Shift: Monday – Friday 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM EST (1 hr lunch)

Hours: 40 Hours a week, no weekend work.

Duration: 6 months initial contract. possibility to extend.

Pay Rate: $55 to 60/hr

Description

Duties & key responsibilities:

• Supports the FP&A accrual move to accounting - includes taking over, booking, streamlining process etc. as needed
• Prepares reconciliations between sub-ledger and general ledger systems
• Prepares non-recurring and recurring journal entries monthly and/or quarterly
• Reconciles balance sheet accounts on a monthly and/or quarterly basis
• Supports the accounting team in implementing process improvements once identified
• Maintain/improve existing internal controls

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• Licensed CPA (Certified Public Accountant) preferred 
• 5 years in corporate accounting
• Public accounting experience strongly preferred but not required
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and GAAP
• Excellent leadership and management skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software – Microsoft Dynamics experience a plus
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Highly motivated, work collaboratively in a team and adapt to a dynamic work environment
