Position Title: Licensed Practical Nurse Location: Vestal, NY 13850 Shift Hours: 40 hrs Shift Days: 6:45 AM - 3:15 PM Evenings: 2:45 PM - 11:15 PM Overnights: 10:45 PM–7:15 AM Bill Rate: $36/Hour Local $1600 / Week Traveller Job Overview: The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for providing nursing services in the care and treatment of residents. The LPN operates under the direct supervision of a charge nurse and may oversee nursing assistants and unit helpers as needed. Key Responsibilities: Assist new residents in adjusting to the unit, philosophy, and goals Report any accidents or changes in resident conditions to the charge nurse and document progress notes in the chart Discuss clinical issues regarding resident care with the charge nurse Work as part of the interdisciplinary team to prepare, implement, and evaluate care plans Observe, record, and report resident progress or condition changes Update care plans as necessary Administer therapeutic treatments Dispense and administer medications (excluding IVs) while monitoring side effects and effectiveness Secure and account for controlled drugs Maintain nursing care records and administrative reports Attend staff meetings and in-service programs Qualifications & Skills: Working knowledge of current nursing practices Proficiency in practical nursing procedures and techniques Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships Dependability, resourcefulness, and professionalism Strong observation skills Ability to operate medical equipment (e.g., suction machine, oxygen units, vaporizer) Ability to maintain detailed records and prepare reports Physical ability to meet the demands of the position Minimum Qualifications: Completion of a New York State Education Department-approved Licensed Practical Nurse program and possession of a valid LPN license in New York State OR Completion of an approved LPN course and possession of a limited permit* to practice as an LPN in New York State (must obtain full licensure within six months of appointment).
