Position: Prep Cook
Pay Range: $17–$21 per hour (based on experience)
Position Overview
The Prep Cook plays a vital role in ensuring the kitchen is set up for success by preparing ingredients, maintaining organization, and supporting the line during service. This position works closely with kitchen leadership and team members to uphold quality, consistency, and efficiency in a fast-paced breakfast and lunch environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare ingredients including chopping, slicing, portioning, and batching recipes
- Follow prep lists, recipes, and kitchen standards with accuracy and consistency
- Maintain proper food storage, labeling, dating, and rotation (FIFO)
- Keep prep areas, walk-ins, and storage spaces clean and organized
- Assist line cooks during service with restocking and basic cooking tasks as needed
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, tools, and workspaces
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations
- Communicate effectively with team members and leadership
- Support overall kitchen operations as directed
Qualifications:
- Previous kitchen or food prep experience preferred (but willing to train the right candidate)
- Basic knife skills and understanding of kitchen operations
- Ability to follow recipes and directions accurately
- Strong attention to detail and organization
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Team-oriented with a positive attitude
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs
- Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
Schedule:
- Early morning availability preferred
- Weekend and holiday availability required
