Job Overview
The Night Cadet Life Supervisor (Night CLS) is responsible for the overnight supervision, safety, accountability, and well-being of cadets in the residential environment. This position plays a central role in the Academy’s Character & Leadership Development Program (CLDP) and ensures continuity of supervision between the end of evening activities and the start of the academic day.
The Night CLS maintains the dormitory from 2200–0800, ensures all overnight routines and safety checks are completed, responds to student needs, monitors conduct throughout the night, verifies student wake-up and attendance at morning meals and formations, and assists cadet leaders (Cadre) with early-morning accountability.
The Night CLS is also responsible for answering the Academy phone during overnight hours, arming and setting alarm systems, unlocking gates in the early morning according to Gate Operations SOP, and ensuring the dorm is prepared for morning turnover to day staff.

- Serve as a steady, trustworthy, and supportive adult presence for all students.
- Uphold the Employee Handbook, Cadet Manual, CLDP mission, and Academy standards. Must believe in and support the mission and vision of the Academy.
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and sound judgment at all times.
- Collaborate with Academic, Athletic, Maintenance, Housekeeping, and Student Services departments when necessary.
- Demonstrate empathy, consistency, and discipline in all interactions with students.
- Maintain punctuality, reliability, and responsible stewardship of Academy property.
Work Schedule
- Standard hours: 2200–0800, unless otherwise directed.
- Assigned to a single hall or rotating halls depending on staffing.
- Occasional schedule adjustment required for cadet returns, departures, inspections, emergencies, and major campus events.
- Night CLS are off duty when cadets are not on campus but remain paid year-round, totaling approximately 60 days off annually.
QualificationsMinimum Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to work with adolescents ages 13–19.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm, attentive, and authoritative throughout overnight hours.
- Ability to conduct rounds, climb stairs, and respond to emergencies.
- Valid driver’s license.
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to learn and operate systems such as MAGNUS, Raptor, Mosyle, Blackbaud, and REACH.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in residential life, boarding schools, youth development, military, or structured environments.
- Experience with student leadership programs.
- Medication Administration certification (or willingness to obtain).
1 bedroom apartment available in the dorm - free of charge, if desired but not required. Meals available in the dining hall free of charge when students are present.
Pay: $36,000.00 - $38,000.00 per year
