What are the responsibilities and job description for the Emergency Services Training Officer position at Randolph County (NC)?
Performs skilled technical work in planning, organizing, scheduling, coordinating, and conducting the department Paramedic Academy for Paramedic Trainees, and related work as apparent or assigned.Willmaintaintraineerecords,compile,schedule,andanalyzequalitymanagementdataand audits, provide remediation to Paramedic Trainees when necessary, and provide educational instruction. Work is performed under the general direction of the Emergency Services Training Coordinator and/or Emergency Medical Services Assistant Operations Officer.
Essential Functions- Develop, prepare, coordinate, and institute all essential elements of an in-house Paramedic Academy to meet the requirements of the NC Office of EMS.
- Prepares, selects, assembles, and distributes educational information and material to employees.
- Coordinates a quality management system to schedule random audits on the Paramedic Academy and its trainees.
- Will provide educational instruction to students as required and will select appropriate instructors to deliver the required educational materials for a Paramedic program. Emphasis will be placed on subject matter expert instructors for each focal topic.(Example: cardiology, OB/GYN, Stroke, Burns, Pharmacology, etc.).
- Compile and analyze the quality management data to provide detailed reports to highlight activities and performance in each clinical area.
- Maintain electronic employee training records and assist employees and first responders with preparation for re-credentialing through the State agencies.
- Assist employees and first responders with local and state testing requirements, as well as scheduling oral and written review with the Medical Director.
- Assist in coordinating annual scope-of-practice testing, workshops, and classes.
- Emergency Management duties and responsibilities as assigned during emergency operations center activations, exercises, training, special events, and/or emergency incidents.
- Will work shifts on the ambulance as required.
- Assists the Training Coordinator as required.
- Abides by, enforces, and participates in the implementation and ongoing oversight of Randolph County Government safety standards and regulations.
Associate's Degree and three to five years working in Emergency Services or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess and maintain NC Office of EMS Level I Instructor certification. NC Office of EMS Level II Instructor preferred.
- NC Office of EMS Paramedic Certification.
- Local credentialing/re-credentialing as required.
- CPR/First aid certification.
- Emergency Vehicle Operations training.
- HazMat Awareness training.
- Incident Command System(ICS) training as required.
- Valid Driver’s License in the State of North Carolina.
- ACLS, PALS, and PHTLS instructor certifications as required.
- NC Office of EMS Level I Instructor Certification.
