Position: Structural Field Inspector
As a Structural Field Inspector, you will work onsite within manufacturing facilities, conducting inspections on various types of structures and/or equipment. The goal is to identify deficiencies or non-conformances that fail to comply with standard safety guidelines. You will document findings on a tablet, capture digital photos, and compile your results into a report to be submitted to the client.
Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
- Travel to job sites and complete site-specific safety training to understand facility hazards. Complete daily work permits and required documentation.
- Inspect structures and equipment for deficiencies; document findings and take digital photos.
- Collaborate with our engineering team to assess the severity of findings.
- Read and interpret drawings to identify and label the location of observed deficiencies.
- Review inspection specifications relevant to the structures being evaluated.
- Create field sketches to illustrate the locations of structures or equipment within the facility.
Education, Experience, and Skills:
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Associate degree in engineering or a technical discipline.
- 1–3 years of relevant experience in a similar inspection role.
- Strong communication skills and professionalism aligned with company values.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a company vehicle.
- Understanding of AutoCAD drawings and ability to interpret technical schematics.
- Prior non-destructive testing (NDT) certifications preferred.
- Manlift certification is a plus.
- Proficiency with iPads, including the ability to download and manage digital photos.
- Willingness and ability to travel, including extended overnight stays will be required. Travel will consist of 80% of the time in this role.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to walk multiple flights of stairs, bend, kneel, and climb ladders.
- Use of hand tools such as wire brushes or chipping hammers to clean inspection areas.
- Working in confined spaces when necessary.
- Standing for extended periods.
- Comfortable working within a manlift basket.
