Meat Counter Clerk

As a Meat Counter Clerk for Randazzo Fresh Market, a family-owned gourmet grocery store, you will be responsible for assisting customers in selecting, weighing, packaging, and pricing meat products. You will also be responsible for preparing meat cuts, maintaining a clean and organized meat counter, ensuring that all products are fresh, and handling customer inquiries and complaints. Exceptional customer service in a safe and clean environment to ensure the customer’s return visit is paramount.

Key Responsibilities:

· Greet and welcome customers to the meat & poultry counter in a friendly and professional manner.

· Assist customers in the selection of meat & poultry products, providing information on the type of meat, origin, and cooking methods.

· Communicating with the butcher regarding the customer’s desired cut and trimming specifications

· Weigh, package, and price meat & poultry products according to store standards and customer requirements in a friendly, timely and professional manner.

· Clean and maintain the showcases, ensuring that it is stocked with fresh and appealing products at all times.

· Follow all food safety and handling guidelines, ensuring that all meat & poultry products are stored at the correct temperatures and that all equipment and fixtures are cleaned and sanitized regularly.

· Handle customer inquiries and complaints in a timely and professional manner, escalating to the department or store manager as necessary.

· Upsell additional products and promotions to customers.

· Maintain accurate inventory records and assist in inventory management.

· Receive department inventory and move it to the proper storage areas.

Qualifications:

· Previous experience in a meat or grocery retail environment is preferred but not required, we will train.

· Knowledge of different types of meat cuts, cooking methods, and food safety guidelines.

· Excellent customer service and communication skills.

· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

· Ability to lift, carry and move heavy boxes and equipment up to 50 lbs.

· Comfortable working in a refrigerated environment.

· Ability to stand for long periods of time

· Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, holidays and the three days before holidays as needed
