Job Description:
Repairs buildings damaged by water, fire, or mold, focusing on rebuilding structures to pre-loss condition by performing extensive framing, drywall installation/repair, finish carpentry (trim, doors, cabinets), and sometimes minor electrical/plumbing, requiring strong problem-solving, physical stamina, and adherence to safety/standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Damage Assessment: Inspect sites, assess damage scope (water, smoke, mold), and determine repair needs.
- Mitigation Support: Assist with cleanup, containment, drying, and material removal.
- Carpentry: Frame walls/floors, install/repair siding, decks, windows, doors, cabinetry, and hardwood flooring.
- Drywall: Hang, tape, mud, sand, and finish drywall sheets; patch holes and repair damaged areas.
- Finish Work: Install interior trim, baseboards, and perform basic painting/staining.
- Site Management: Maintain a clean work area, manage tools, and ensure safety protocols are followed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Technical Skills: Proficient in carpentry, drywall techniques (hanging, finishing), and potentially basic electrical/plumbing.
- Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving, communication, attention to detail, and teamwork.
- Physical: Stamina for demanding work, lifting, and varied environments.
- Certifications: IICRC or other restoration certifications are often a plus.
- Experience: Prior construction or restoration experience is generally required.
