Position Summary:


The AR Follow-Up Specialist II serves as an experienced member of the AR team, handling complex accounts and high-dollar claims. This role focuses on strategic resolution of denials, underpayments, and aged claims. The Specialist II may also support training, process improvement, and trend identification efforts, working closely with leadership to improve reimbursement outcomes.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Manage complex or escalated accounts, including high-dollar claims, recurring denials, or multi-payer issues.

  • Perform root cause analysis and initiate appropriate action including appeals, corrections, and resubmissions.

  • Identify denial trends and collaborate with the RCM Supervisor to implement process improvements.

  • Serve as a resource and informal mentor to AR Follow-Up Specialist I staff.

  • Communicate effectively with coders, providers, and front office staff to resolve claim-related barriers.

  • Maintain accurate and compliant documentation in Epic, Athena, or other billing systems.

  • Consistently meet or exceed productivity and resolution targets.


Qualifications:


Education & Experience:



  • High school diploma or equivalent required; CRCR, CMRS, or similar certifications preferred.

  • 3–5 years of experience in healthcare A/R follow-up with demonstrated success resolving complex claims.

  • Proficiency with Epic preferred; experience with Waystar or similar clearinghouse platforms strongly preferred.


 


Skills & Abilities:



  • Advanced understanding of revenue cycle operations, payer rules, and denial management.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize, and manage time effectively.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for working with internal teams and external payers.

Salary : $24 - $28
