Overview
We are seeking a motivated and energetic School Custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming school environment. This vital role ensures that our facilities are well-kept, hygienic, and conducive to learning, supporting the overall well-being of students and staff alike.
Duties
- Perform thorough cleaning of classrooms, hallways, restrooms, offices, and common areas using commercial cleaning equipment such as floor buffers and vacuums.
- Handle chemical agents safely while cleaning and disinfecting surfaces to meet health standards.
- Conduct routine inspections of the facility to identify maintenance needs or safety hazards.
- Engage in manual handling tasks including heavy lifting of furniture, supplies, or equipment following safe lifting practices.
- Maintain floors through buffing, stripping, waxing, and other floor care procedures to ensure a polished appearance.
- Assist with light maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs or minor repairs to keep the facility in optimal condition.
- Support industrial cleaning projects when needed, including deep cleans or special projects requiring custodial experience.
Experience
- Proven custodial or janitorial experience in a school, commercial, or industrial setting.
- Familiarity with cleaning techniques using various equipment like floor buffers and industrial cleaning tools.
- Knowledge of chemical agent handling and safety procedures related to commercial cleaning products.
- Experience with manual handling and heavy lifting while adhering to safe lifting practices.
- Background in facilities maintenance or porter duties is advantageous.
- Ability to work independently with attention to detail and a proactive approach to maintaining cleanliness standards.
