Duties
- Perform thorough cleaning of classrooms, hallways, restrooms, cafeterias, gyms, and other school areas using commercial cleaning equipment and supplies
- Conduct floor care activities such as sweeping, mopping, buffing, stripping, waxing, and polishing to keep surfaces pristine and safe
- Maintain cleanliness of windows, doors, light fixtures, and other fixtures to ensure a bright and inviting environment
- Handle custodial tasks including trash removal, restocking supplies, and minor repairs to support smooth school operations
- Use industrial cleaning tools and techniques for deep cleaning tasks or specialized areas requiring extra attention
- Assist with facilities maintenance tasks such as painting walls or touch-ups in common areas when needed
- Follow safety procedures during all cleaning activities to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with health standards
Experience
- Prior janitorial or custodial experience in commercial or industrial settings is highly preferred
- Familiarity with floor care techniques including buffing, stripping, waxing, and polishing
- Experience in residential painting or general facilities maintenance is a plus
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and proper handling procedures to ensure safety and effectiveness
- Ability to operate cleaning machinery such as buffers, floor scrubbers, or industrial vacuums effectively
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently during night hours while maintaining high standards of cleanliness
- Previous porter or maintenance experience will be considered an asset
